Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Thursday received the five-star general insignia, making him the supreme commander of the defence forces.

He received the honour from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Wisma Pertahanan here during his visit to the Defence Ministry, his first after being crowned the 13th King in December.

Earlier, the King was greeted on arrival at the ministry by Najib, who is also Defence Minister, Defence Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal and chiefs of the army, navy and air force.

Tuanku Mizan then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by 103 men and four officers led by Mej Nor Azizi Abdullah from the 1st battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment at Dataran Kementah before attending a two-hour closed-door briefing on the ministry’s operations.
