Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will produce a “Jaguh Futsal” reality programme to promote the sport among youths.

Deputy Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is Perak Football Association president, said the programme would be shown on television in 13 episodes from May.

It would start with the selection of participants nationwide, he told a press conference to introduce the programme at Angkasapuri here Thursday.

“Eight best players will be selected by the coach in each state and 14 teams will be formed to compete for the Jaguh Futsal Cup and RM30,000 cash prize,” he said.

He said the programme would be launched at the Ampang Sports Planet on March 28 with a match between ministers and celebrities.

“Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to take part in the match,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid said Felda United would also participate in the programme which was open to all Malaysians aged between 19 and 30 years.

The programme was held in collaboration with Sportswork Group Sdn Bhd.
