RTM will continue with its plan to have an international channel with the launch of Measat 3 recently, Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk Abdul Rahman Hamid says.

The proposal would be submitted to Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin soon, he said.

He said the plan to have an international channel was mooted in 2002 but was shelved due to several factors including cost.

“The use of Measat 3 for the international channel will not involve a high cost,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Broadcasting Department Management Meeting here today.

He said the government could promote Malaysia to the world through the new channel.
