Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will offer special discounts and its latest package – “KTM Komuter Tourist Pass” – in conjunction with the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair 2007 to be held in March.

Marketing Manager of Intercity Service of KTMB Strategic Business Unit, Mohd Noordin Kimi, said KTMB would offer Matta Fair visitors a 25 per cent reduction on tickets to all destinations, including Singapore, for three months from the launch date of the fair.

This year’s Matta Fair is scheduled for three days from March 16 at the Putra World Trade Centre here.

KTMB would also launch its day tourist pass of RM12 for adults and RM6 for children for unlimited travel from any commuter station in the Klang Valley, Port Klang, Seremban, and Rawang, he told a joint news conference with Matta, here.

Mohd Nordin said the tourist pass would be available from Jan 1 to Dec 31 this year.

Mohd Nordin said KTMB expected users of its services to rise to 4.2 million this year compared to 3.9 million last year.

Meanwhile, Matta Deputy President Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun said the association was targeting 80,000 visitors to the fair which would have 188 participants and 889 stalls.

Visitors would get the chance to win a car and two Malaysia Airlines (MAS) first-class return air tickets to Rome and one return air ticket to Auckland.

“Those who make bookings to any destination in the country stand a chance to also win a car through a `lucky purchase’.

“It is aimed at promoting interesting destinations in the country during Visit Malaysia Year 2007,” he said.
